Canada dominates Team USA in World Cup of Hockey, 4-2

TORONTO - Without the talent to match them, without the will to oppose them and without direction - from management down - to hang with them, the US team It was unceremoniously dominated by Team Canada Hockey Jersey at the World Hockey Cup Group A match of the preliminary round Tuesday night, losing 4-2.

The win put Canada at 2-0-0 (4 points) in group play. The defeat left the Americans to 0-2-0 (0 points) in group play and ended any possibility that they could qualify for the semifinals. US team has left a game without importance against the Czech Republic on Thursday night as Team Canada and Europe - a hodgepodge of players from countries tournament "orphans" who gave Americans their other loss Saturday - both anticipated.

The Americans entered the game knowing their backs were against the wall, basically they need two regulation wins in their last two games to advance. They talked about matching the intensity of Canada, playing a "gritty" physical and outworking and his eternal rival game.

It ended up looking like a spin-off of hockey-centric "The Walking Dead".

But it did not start that way.

Ryan McDonagh has Americans on the board first with what could properly be called a "truculent" goal.

Derek Stepan broke a shot went right price pill Carey. McDonagh was high in Canada Marc-Edouard Vlasic defense, knocking him to the ice. Then he slapped the puck past goalie Carey Price (34 stops) for the 1-0 lead just 4:22 into the game, sending US banks in celebration.

It was short-lived.

Vlasic fired the disc from the blue line of the end boards and traveling in the back of the net right to Matt Duchene. Dustin Byfuglien was looking in the wrong direction. That was Jonathan Quick. Duchene turned it into an open net to tie the game 1-1 just after half past one.

Besides short duration? Tie.

Jonathan Quick (30 saves) is usually good for a bad play of a game. It's just a question of whether it is a recoverable error or be detrimental. In this case, it was the last: Logan Couture turned the disc to the goal and quickly blocked the right by a driving Corey Perry, a check John Carlson slid. The disc bounced off the net at 6:05.

Team USA Hockey Jersey team Coach John Tortorella challenged the play. Maybe he was hoping for a repeat of the goal James van Riemsdyk who went into the game team in Europe, officials said swerved his body. Or maybe you wanted to take a time out anyway, and decided to get a long rest and potentially back from a goal.

In any case, the goal stood, and it was 2-1 Canada.

At least for the next six minutes and two seconds.

Forward Max Pacioretty failed to clear the disk and then defender Erik Johnson did the same. This allowed Duchene - who Pacioretty and Johnson ignored - to slip past three American players to a clear chance to goal. He beat her five holes quickly, and it was 3-1 Canada since remained at the first break.

US team He fell two goals. But its LED in hits, 22-6, and blocked shots 9-6. This is true for a team John Tortorella.

In the second period ... well, it's not only fair, right?

John Tavares, one of the best players in the world, undressed US Matt Niskanen defense and goes to the network, distributing to Patrice Bergeron, one of the best players in the world. The disc deviated Bergeron skate, then off McDonagh and then on the net for a 4-1 lead. And if he had not, there was Sidney Crosby, arguably the best player in the world, ready to pounce.

(Unrelated: Patrick Kane skated with Justin Abdelkader for the US team).

The third period saw brief moments of life for the US team, including three albums that were put out. T. J. Oshie scored in a fight at the end of the period to cut the lead to 4-2. Jonathan Quick was pulled with just under two minutes left, but Carey Price closed the door.

The defeat was a humiliation on the ice and off, for the US team .. The World Cup was a chance for redemption after much of this team lost to Canada and then quit in a medal game bronze against Finland during the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014. However, they will not leave the group play.
